Lawrence Carss,
who was a well-known trainer and judge in both Canada and the United States,
was born in the Ottawa Valley. He began his training career working for the
Frank Ryan family and later Dr. Bartlett and Jim Carter. His last stop in
Canada was with the Armstrong family of ABC Farms in Brampton before he
headed south to develop his own training stables in the U.S.
Laurie passed
away July 5th, 2003 in Lexington, Kentucky from lung and heart ailments.
Laurie is survived by his wife, Sandy, and their children Rebecca and Dylan,
and his two older children Shelly and Andrew.
