2019 Hall of Fame - Normand Plouffe & Judith Gauvin

Norm grew up on a country farm in a town where the fields work was done with horses. And began driving horses when he was only 5 years old. He got his first saddle horse when he was 17 and from that day, he had a passion for horses.

In the 70's, Norm became the Director of the Quebec trail rider.

From 1977 to 1982, he drove horses for Marcel Paquette at the Monnoirs Stables. In 1980, his first competition in the Roadster class at Ormstown fair driving May Empire. May was a pretty little mare with a huge engine, Norm and May were a very competitive team.

From 1982 to 1983, Norm ventured out to worked on Farm 30, where they had 7 Morgan horses. Norm looked after and managed a few employees on this Farm, and they showed the Morgans competitively. You would see Norm showing Majestic a Morgan Stallion in both in hand and driving classes.

In 1984 through to 1987, Norm returned to Monnoirs Stables where he once again had the opportunity to show Roadster, Morgan's and Hackney's. Norm became a director on the comite Conjoint des race Chevaliere in 1995 and from 2004 to 2007, in this period he created and was president of the Quebec Hackney Horse and Pony Association.

Norm's first time competing at the Royal Winter Fair was in 1985. The following year he returned to the Royal Winter Fair and won his first class there with a very well-known horse named Ellery. In 1989 Norm, bought his first horses, a Road Horse named Rising Speed, a Hackney horse named Judy's Supreme Emperor or as some of us would call him Judy's George, and a Hackney pony named Sir John. In 1994, five short years later Norm and Judith created Moustache Stables. Moustache Stables continued showing and supporting many shows through out Quebec and Ontario, they also made the journey to the Royal, where they would show their Hackney horse Charms Magic Light Foot, their Road Pony Tomorrows Celebration and their Road Horses RA Demon and Fly Me To The Moon He was president of the Quebec Roadster's from 2002 to 2007. Norm and Judith where the backbone of the association, they both worked hard with fundraising and started the Quebec Road Horse Hall of Fame.

After 30 years of showing and competing in Quebec and Ontario, he retired in 2007 with his last class at the Royal Winter Fair in November. Retirement did not slow them down, on November 22nd 2007, they purchased 2 commercial horses to do trail rides and sleigh rides with. Norm and Judith continue to support Quebec and Ontario horse shows by either being Spectators, Ring Master and on the occasions Judging.
